Abstrak

Product quality is critical for consumers to choose the desired products and services. This quality must pay attention to the wants and needs of consumers. Lean thinking is a concept that aims to reduce waste. We need a methodology that can reduce product variations, the Six Sigma methodology. The combination of the two is often called Lean Six Sigma. This paper was appointed to improve the product quality of fluid carrier tanks. The high number of defective products, especially in the cutting, welding, and bending processes, causes rework that leads to losses. The company wants a reduction of less than 5%, so process improvement will be considered the main problem. The initial Sigma from the sequential cutting, welding and bending are good. The chosen alternative is to create an implementation of SOPs like training to improve knowledge, skills, and abilities. These alternatives can increase the sigma value from the initial condition from 2.90 to 3.0. An increase in the sigma value indicates a decrease in the defect rate per million opportunities (DPMO).
